Listen to Three New Kyle Tracks

Youtube.com California rapper Kyle, best known for his hit "iSpy" ft. Lil Yachty, just dropped three new singles - "Off Of It" ft. Ty Dolla $ign, "Sunshine" ft. Miguel, and "All Mine" ft. MadeinTYO. All three tracks are sugary, light-hearted pop rap. It seems logical to guess that these tracks are intended to promote an as-yet-announced album. Listen below.

New Music Friday 9/29/17

Watch The New Video From Kurt Vile And Courtney Barnett

Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett are two of the biggest names when it comes to story driven indie rock. When it was announced that they were collaborating on a new album titled Lotta Sea Lice , the indie music world got excited. The two released their first single "Over Everything" on August 30th. On September 26th the second single "Continental Breakfast" was released. Along with the song, a music video was released. Unlike the video for "Over Everything," the video for "Continental Breakfast" is actually in color. The video features shots from both Vile and Barnett's personal life. The song is about maintaining their friendship while live a world apart. The final shots in the video are Vile and Barnett speaking to each other over the phone. Kurt Vile is sitting alone at night and Courtney Barnett is sitting alone in the daylight. "Continental Breakfast" sounds similar to the previous single. Barnett and Vile alternate verses

Listen To New Music From Ty Segall

Ty Segall is known for his massive output of fuzz soaked garage music. His new song "Alta" is no different. Starting off with an electric piano and a whistful vocal from Segall. The song's beginning seems almost uncharacteristic of Segall's work. The tone of the song quickly changes direction as fuzzed out guitars take center stage. "Alta" is full of beautiful melodies while keeping it heavy. "Alta" was recorded in Chicago at the legendary Electrical Audio Studios with Steve Albini. You can listen to the new single from Ty Segall here .

Listen To The New Track From Michael Cera And Sharon Von Etten

Actor, and music dabbler, Michael Cera released a new track titled "Best I Can". "Best I Can" was recorded for the documentary Dina . A   film billed as a "real life love story;" the documentary follow a woman named Dina and her fiancé as they go through their relationship. The song "Best I Can" is part of the films soundtrack that is scored by Michael Cera. The track holds minimal production and has a fragile nature about it. It was recorded with a Juno 4 synthesizer and a drum machine. Sharon Van Etten then lended her vocals to fill out the track. The music video for "Best I Can" is full of shots from the upcoming film. The project is quirky and awkward. Really it is everything you would expect from Michael Cera. This song is not Cera's first foray into music. He has played with a number of bands and released the album true that in 2014. Watch the video for "Best I Can" down below.

Metz Strange Peace Review

Canadian noise band Metz have a history of releasing punishing, explosive rock 'n' roll music. Their first two albums Metz and  II proved that a that three guys can make a huge sound. On their new album,  Strange Peace , Metz take the sound they have established and added a few new ingredients. Their aggressive, almost feral sound, was aided by Steve Albini who recorded the band straight to tape at his recording studio Electrical Audio in Chicago. The trio worked with the legendary engineer help capture their energy by recording the album live to tape. Strange Peace starts off like any Metz album.  "Mess of Wires" starts the album off on a high note. Drummer Hayden Menzies (angry Dave Grohl as I like to call him) punches the listener in the gut with pummeling drums. Guitarist and frontman Alex Edkins matches Menzies drums with frantic dirty guitar riffs. For the most part, the first three songs on Strange Peace are your typical Metz songs. They're aggr

Panopticon Announces New Double Album

It was technically announced back in December 2016 with the release of a limited 7", but now it's here for real! The album will be "a double album, 2 hours of music, lyrically and aesthetically following a concept..." with each side expressing "opposite sides of the same idea." Some of these new songs will be debuted at Roadburn, a Dutch music festival, in 2018. The lineup will include Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Converge, and Ex Eye (featuring Colin Stetson and Greg Fox), and was curated by Converge's own Jacob Bannon. Panopticon's last album was 2015's Autumn Eternal. Zex Dropped From Magic Bullet Records

Punk band Zex has been dropped from their label Magic Bullet Records. Zex gained fame earlier this week when one side of their album Uphill Battle was pressed into the vinyl copies of Beyoncé's Lemonade . Following the new publicity, a number of people came forward with claims that they have been sexually assaulted by guitarist Jo Capitalcide.  In a statement from Magic Bullet Records, the label cites the boycott of venues, promoters, and record stores because of ongoing allegations against Jo Capitalcide. Magic Bullet Records posted a screen shot of texts between frontwoman Gretchen Steel and label founder Brent Eyestone.  Eyestone uses the texts between him and Steel to corroborate one of the recent allegations.  Steel told Pitchfork  that all claims against Capitalcide are "absolutely untrue." She said that no warning was given to her before the label announce they were being dropped.  Magic Bullet Records is offering a full refund to people wh

Punk Band Mispressed Into Beyoncé's Lemonade

Beyoncé fans may have gotten a little more (or less)  bang for their buck their vinyl copy of Lemonade . When listeners drop the needle on side A, they found that Canadian punk band Zex came screaming out of their speakers instead of Queen Bey. The error occurred at the Celebrate Records pressing plant in Germany. Side A of Zex's Uphill Battle was swapped out for side A of Beyoncé's Lemonade . Zex posted a video to their FaceBook page where they "announced" to their fans the impromptu Zex, Beyoncé split. Zex guitarist Jo Galipeau told Slate , "Some people have been writing to the band offering to sell their copy to us, at exorbitant prices." However, not everyone was upset by the mispressing. Galipeau said people have told him they enjoy the music even though they did not expect it.

The Story Behind Calvin Heights Alone Video

Brett Carey and Jordan Wipf of the band Calvin Heights sat down with Philo T Farnsworth host of the radio show Local Juke Joint. The two, among many things, dove into the process behind their new album Worst Calligraphy . In a teaser clip released on September 18th, Brett and Jordan discuss the mean behind the music for their song "Alone." The video is striking, intense, and unsettling right from the get go. It depicts Carey in a denim shirt, jeans, and a bag over his head dancing under a spot light. The track itself is from the EP The Possession Of The Deers Feet: Prologue . The EP is a companion to Worst Calligraphy and it has material on it that is heavier and and a little more left of center than material on the album. Many who watched the video thought Carey was depicting his death. Brett explains in the clip that the images came more about him hiding parts of his body that he doesn't like. He didn't see it as him depicting his death. Jordan went on to e

Minnesota Legend Grant Hart Dead At 56

Minnesota native Grant Hart lost his battle with cancer Wednesday night. Hart was an important figure not only in the Minnesota scene but in music scenes across the country. Grant Hart rose to fame in the 1980s where he played drums in the hardcore punk turned alt rock band Hüsker Dü. The band formed in 1979 when singer and guitarist Bob Mould wandered into Cheapo Records by Macalester college. Mould heard punk music being blasted from a PA at the door and wandered in. Mould said that he ended up hanging out with Hart because he was the only person in the store. The two struck up a friendship and decided to form a band. With Mould on guitar and Hart on drums, they enlisted the help of bassist Greg Norton to form Hüsker Dü. The band bitterly spilt up in 1988; however, with the announcement  of a boxset featureing the bands early material, hopes were high that the band would be getting back together. After the bands split in '88, Hart was the first person to release solo

Listen To Hippo Campus' New EP

Hippo Campus have been busy bees this year. The indie pop act released their debut album  Landmark  in February. To promote the album, the band was invited to play on the talkshow Conan. The band's momentum did not stop there. Over the summer Hippo Campus played the huge music festivals Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo.  Hippo Campus just released a follow up EP titled Warm Glow . The EP itself is a short and sweet snapshot into the band's sound. Warm Glow is about 13 minutes in length. The first two tracks "baseball" and "traveler" are straight ahead indie rock songs that you can groove along to them with no problem. The third song, the title track, "warm glow" is a bit more complex. They sound like they are doing a pop rock impression of a song by fellow local artist The Pines. "Warm glow" is a slow build. It adds texture after texture to the track before is explodes then fades away in a minute long ambient (in the loosest sense of t

A reunion album for the band, American Dream hit number one on the billboard charts over the weekend.  This is the first album that the band has released to go number one, but not the first time Murphy has attempted to get a number one album. Bush's Senior  Advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff, Karl Rove. The tweet above is over comments made by Rove in a Newsweek   article about The Nation's song "Walk It Back" from their new album Sleep Well Beast which was released on September 8th. The track uses a quote from a 2004 New York Times article written by Ron Suskind about the Bush presidency. The quote below says, " People like you are still living in what we call the reality-based community. You believe that  solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality. That's not the way the world really works anymore. We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And  while you are studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you

Watch Charlie Parr's Video For Peaceful Valley

All of us at one point or another has contemplated locking ourselves inside our homes and becoming a recluse. Whether it's because you're tired of having responsibilities or you just hate everyone you know, the idea of locking yourself in a room and listening to your favorite records is kind of nice. Local singer-songwriter Charlie Parr explores that idea in his song "Peaceful Valley." The song is from his new album, Dog , which is going to be released on Friday, September 8th via local label Red House Records . The video for the "Peaceful Valley" has a childlike quality in its animation style. With a cartoony version of Parr hiding in his house while the neighbors, the IRS, and even the Mormons try to get inside. Animator Jake Huffcutt draws the video in a way that is reminiscent of a child's cartoon. You can watch the music video below.

Watch St. Vincent's Surreal Interview

Annie Clark, better known by her stage name St. Vincent, is releasing a series of videos on her Instagram account. The videos are short clips of the generic interview questions that musicians are usually asked. In a profile done by the New Yorker , it was mentioned that Clark collaborate with Slater-Kinney's Carrie Brownstein create the series. Brownstein wrote the questions and then Clark shot a short film around them. The videos have a similar Day Glo color scheme that you see in the video for her new single "New York." Annie Clark delivers her answers in her characteristic deadpan style. Along with the color scheme, the viewer is met with striking costumes worn by the cast. Clark herself is wearing a see-through latex top and a pink latex skirt. She is also accompanied by three female "crew members" who are wearing assless latex chaps, chestless latex tops, dominatrix hoods, collars, and heels. The short film is very stylized in a way that screams Annie
