Listen To The New Track From Mavis Staples And Jeff Tweedy

Mavis Staples has been a busy over the last couple of years. She released an album in 2016 title Livin' on a Hight Note, and was featured on songs by Arcade Fire and Benjamin Booker in 2017. The singer-songwriter and activist show no signs of slowing down. Staples announced a new album titled If All I Was Was Black. To keep with her theme of collaboration, Staples is working with Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy. Along with the albums track list and cover art, the title track from the album, "If All I Was Was Black," was also released.

This is the third album that Tweedy and Staples have worked on together. Many of the songs were written by Jeff Tweedy himself. As you can tell from the title, the album is going to have a political message. When talking about the nature of creating art to make a difference, Tweedy said, "the love I have for Mavis and the desire to be part of some kind of positive change."

If All I Was Was Black will be out November 17th of this year via Anti- Records.
