American Dream Reaches Number One

LCD Soundsystem's frontman James Murphy had his dream of gaining a number one album come true with the release of American Dream. A reunion album for the band, American Dream hit number one on the billboard charts over the weekend.

This is the first album that the band has released to go number one, but not the first time Murphy has attempted to get a number one album. Murphy asked his fans to make 2007's Sound of Silver number one in the charts; however, the album only peaked at 46. The follow up album, This Is Happening, managed to do better and secured a number 10 spot in the charts.

Billboard reports that album sales were boosted by a ticket/album bundle. A full chart of albums, including American Dream, will be posted to Billboard on Tuesday, Sept. 12th.
