Marah in the Mainsail to become Coyote Kid

The last year has been a huge one for Marah in the Mainsail. They decided to make the leap to go full-time, and they signed with booking company Green Room Music Service.

With the launch of the Kickstarter for their next album, Marah in the Mainsail announced yet another massive change. The band has decided to leave their name behind and continue as Coyote Kid.

"We feel that now is the time to make a change that we have wanted to make for years," frontman Austin Durry said in a video. Durry went onto say, "We've finished that chapter of art and are living in a new era of music, and with that, we think it deserves a new identity as well."

The new name comes from the protagonist of their upcoming record The Skeleton Man which starts where their 2017 album Bone Crown leaves off. The band says name change won't affect their sound or line up, and The Skeleton Man will be just as "sparse and as bleak as before."

Marah in the Mainsail also wants to bring a real-world adventure to their fans with this album. The band has gone out and hidden The Golden Skull of the Skeleton Man somewhere in the United States, and In order to find it, you must decipher clues hidden within the album. The winner will get lifetime entry into Marah in the Mainsail concerts and a full merch bundle.

On Saturday, June 15, the band will be performing their last show as Marah in the Mainsail, and debuting the music video for their single "Femme Fatale."

Ear Coffee got a chance to talk with the band back in November of 2018. You can listen to that episode of the Ear Coffee Podcast below, or on a podcast service of your choice.
