Goodnight Gorillas are without question an ambitious band. For starters, they're an indie rock band in a local scene that has stuck with it for roughly seven years. That's practically unheard of. Even more unheard of is that they're still releasing great songs. From November 2017 to January 2018, they put out a three-part "stream of conscious musical about the romanticization of love." You'd expect to hear something like that from a late 00s emo band, but Goodnight Gorillas seem to thrive on going against the grain and exploring their every musical idea. "Three Words" is the hilarious lead single for their forthcoming record, Splash . It goes in the opposite direction of a multi-part concept rock musical. In Lieu - "Bunge" In Lieu stand tall in the indie rock heritage of Sleater-Kinney. The Minneapolis quartet bring a winking fire on the first single from their forthcoming Hatemail  EP. "Bunge" spasmodically shifts between riff-fueled verses and Nikii Post's pleas of "Go outside / I'm outside." Post's melodic vocals are the anchor around which the rest of the band hurtles like a punk centrifuge. DIY music spaces are a staple in any underground music scene. They are an expression of true freedom because they operate outside of the traditional channels used to book shows used by typical venues. The concerts at house venues are often curated by people (or bands) who live there. The Paperhouse is one such venue located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It has found itself as the focus of an episodic documentary titled,  Paperhouse, Ask A Punk filmed by SWA Media Production . The documentary is shot in a style reminiscent of the 1981 documentary  The Decline of Western Civilization . Paperhouse, Ask A Punk features interviews with bands who are prominent in the Minneapolis punk scene.
