The songwriting partnership of Brett Carey and Jordan Wipf has become an integral part of  Calvin Heights  sound. When the band's direction shifted on their last release Worst Calligraphy , Wipf and Carey were still trying to figure how to mix experimental music with a traditional song format. The pair really hit their stride with their upcoming album Talented Sun . Wipf said, "Brett's head is full of feedback and screaming. It's my job to take that sound and help shape it into something more accessible." During the production of 2017's Worst Calligraphy, Wipf was less hands on. Carey wrote and recorded most of the music and Wipf came in to play drums; however, this time around they spent a lot of time planning the story line and sound of the overall record. For singer-songwriter Anna Marie Carey, music has been a part of her life since the beginning. Carey had always written as a way to express herself, and the access that she had to recording studios through her dad didn’t hurt her ability to create. However, it wasn’t until the end of college that she took music seriously again. Carey graduated from the University of Northwestern - St. Paul with a degree in film. It was this draw to visuals that influenced her 2015 release Pulse Of My Heart . Carey locked herself in a room while a projector played scenes from films that reflected the themes she drew from to write the album. Quoted Studios, in collaboration with the PBS Digital Studios, have an ongoing a project called Blank on Blank . Using interviews from important people from all facets of life, Blank on Blank has set out to preserve and reimagine what the interviewee says through animation. The non profit adds life to what would be a disembodied voice. Blank on Blank takes the tonal quality and inflection from the person being interviewed to bring their stories to life. They not only recreate the interaction between interviewer and interviewee, but they recreate the situation being talked about.  The series covers everyone from musicians like Jimi Hendrix, to writers like Charles Bukowski, to scientists like Carl Sagan, and actors like Meryl Streep.
