There is a trend in movie and gaming trailers where they take a popular song and reimagine them. The formula is usually keep the original vocals, add a bunch of distorted synths, and finish it out with a punching drum beat. That is why the world now has a synthetic version of The White Stripes anthem "Seven Nation Army" that it does not need. This time, comic giants DC have taken their turn and partnered with blues man Gary Clark Jr. for the film Justice League with a cover of the Beatles classic "Come Together."
For his cover, Clark seems to have broken the mold a little bit and added his touch to the song. There is still an archetypal drum beat and synths, but it will not make you roll your eyes when you listen to it. Clark's trademark octave fuzz guitar riffs are all over this song. "Come Together" grooves along and it makes you want to tap your foot; however, it's biggest sin is the guitar solo. Gary Clark Jr. can shred and build up to the solo shows that, yet when the solo hits its apex, Clark decides to play something simple. He sort of blue balls the listener (especially those who know what Clark is capable of). If the film is anything the song, people will leave saying, "It was ok."
