Jack White Releases New Music

Rock and roll's eccentric godson Jack White released the first single from his third solo record titled BOARDING HOUSE REACH. No release date has been given for the album, but the single will be available in tricolor vinyl at the Nashville and Detroit storefronts on Saturday, January 13. The single titled "Connected By Love" sounds like a new direction for White. The song begins with a droning synth before turning into a ballad someone could slow dance to. The typical guitar-driven rock that White is known for is not featured on "Connected By Love." This track feels more like 1950's rock ballad meets modern pop song. The song feels like it would fit in with White's previous solo record Lazaretto because of his experimentation with synths on that record.

The b-side to "Connected By Love" is titled "Respect Commander." This song is the guitar-driven rock that people associate with White. "Respect Commander" is a slow burn. The first half of the song features a breakbeat with a guitar and bass riff being played over the top. Around the two-minute mark, the song changes mood and turns into a blues tune that builds is full of fiery blues riff-age. "Respect Commander" is the salty to the sweet of "Connected By Love." It has all the angst a garage blues track needs. With the experimentation that is in White's recent solo material, the new solo record may have an interesting flavor to it.
