New Music Friday 3/9/18

Given that nobody reads these, I might as well be blatant. Hire me! I will yell about music for money!

Lil Yachty - Lil Boat 2 (Quality Control/Capitol)

Hip-hop's self-proclaimed "King of the Teens" offers up a sequel to his breakout mixtape. His most recent release was his debut studio album Teenage Emotions in 2017. Additionally, he featured heavily on the Quality Control compilation, Control the Streets Vol. 1. The new album features 2 Chainz, 2/3 Migos (RIP Takeoff), Lil Pump, and more.

Shamir - Resolution (Father/Daughter)

Logic - Bobby Tarantino II (Def Jam)

Logic is fun again! After releasing the massively conceptual (and questionably successful) Everybody in 2017 and performing at the Grammys, Logic aims to prove his light-hearted side again. The sequel to the summer 2016 party-started features Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, and Marshmello (ugh).

of Montreal - White Is Relic/Irrealis Mood (Polyvinyl)

Kevin Barnes & Co. keep it prolific with their fifteenth album and twenty-third main release in twenty years. The album is inspired by the "extended dance mixes" of the 80s and falling in love. Barnes listed Mark E. Smith (RIP), Noam Chomsky, and Ta-Nehisi Coates as influences. Includes "Paranoiac Intervals/Body Dysmorphia" and more.

Albert Hammond, Jr. - Francis Trouble (Red Bull Records)

Look, it's the best Strokes album in like a decade! Just kidding, it's just the fourth LP from Albert Hammond, Jr.! Francis Trouble is partially inspired by the stillborn death of his twin, Francis. Features the awesome "Muted Beatings" single.
