Memphis singer-songwriter Julien Baker just released her second solo album Turn Out The Lights to rave reviews. Watch Baker perform three songs from her new album on "CBS This Morning." Baker plays "Appointments," "Turn Out The Lights" and "Televagelist" as part of the programs "Saturday Sessions." Turn Out The Lights was released Oct. 27 via Matador . There is a trend in movie and gaming trailers where they take a popular song and reimagine them. The formula is usually keep the original vocals, add a bunch of distorted synths, and finish it out with a punching drum beat. That is why the world now has a synthetic version of The White Stripes anthem "Seven Nation Army" that it does not need. This time, comic giants DC have taken their turn and partnered with blues man Gary Clark Jr. for the film Justice League with a cover of the Beatles classic "Come Together." For his cover, Clark seems to have broken the mold a little bit and added his touch to the song. There is still an archetypal drum beat and synths, but it will not make you roll your eyes when you listen to it. Clark's trademark octave fuzz guitar riffs are all over this song. Demos are often a snapshot into the creative process of an artist. The raw, unpolished nature gives the listener a different look at the music they love so much. Sufjan Stevens shared his demo for the Carrie & Lowell track "John My Beloved." The track is part of a new mixed tape titled The Greatest Mix Tape - Outtakes, Remixes, & Demos from Carrie & Lowell . The mix tape features the extra material from Sufjan Stevens' critically acclaimed 2015 release Carrie & Lowell . The demo was recorded on Stevens' iPhone with just his voice and an acoustic guitar. While the demo does not hold a candle to the produced product found on the record, the demo version of "John My Beloved" has its own magic to it. The listener gets the feeling that they are sitting on the couch in the corner while Stevens puts the finishing touches on his song. Beach Slang is known for a few things: heart on their sleeves lyrics, reckless rock music and obnoxiously long titles. So when it was announced in August  that the band's newest release was not going to have a guitar on it, fans of the band were interested. What followed was a four song EP titled,  We Were Babies & We Were Dirtbags . The EP had no new material. Rather, it had two songs from previous albums and two covers. We Were Babies & We Were Dirtbags starts off with "Future Mixtape For Art Kids" from their 2016 release A Loud Bash Of Teenage Feelings.  Hearing the words, " Play it loud/Play it fast/Play me something that will always last " translated well when played on piano; even though, it was a little odd that the imagery of the lyrics did not quite match the music.
